gun, and shall not immediately leave said pre-
mises upon the notification of the owner or occu-
pier thereof, such person or persons, upon convic-
tion before a justice of the peace of said county,
shall be fined a sum not less than ten or more
than fifty dollars, in the discretion of said justice,
for each and every offence, and in default of pay-
ment, may be committed to the county jail, until
the fine and all the costs of the proceedings are
fully paid, and the said justices may also, in their
discretion, hold the said offender or offenders to
hail for his or their appearance before the next
Circuit Court for said county, and upon present-
ment and conviction before said court, the said of-
fender may be confined in the county jail, for not
less than ten or more than thirty days, in the dis-
cretion of said court, and the informer shall be a
competent witness in all such prosecutions.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the
duty of the sheriff and constables of said county, ]
upon complaint made, to arrest all persons viola-
ting .the provisions of this act.

take effect from the date, of its passage.

CHAPTER 144.

In force.

AN ACT .to extend the powers of the President
and Commissioners of the village of Port De-
posit.

Passed March
4, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the president and com-
missioners of the village of Port Deposit shall have
power to establish the limits, widths and grades
of the streets, lanes and alleys of the said village,
and to remove all obstructions therein, also to
open new streets, alleys and lanes within the
limits of the said village.
