until the the end of the next session of the Gene-
ral Assembly that shall happen thereafter, unless
sooner repealed by the Legislature.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the General
Assembly expressly reserve's the right to alter or
repeal this act or any part thereof at pleasure.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That this corpora-
tion shall cause to be published annually in two
newspapers, one in said county and one in the
city of Baltimore, for three successive weeks, a
full and complete statement of its affairs under
the oath or affirmation of the president or other
proper officer of the same.

CHAPTER 133.

Statement of
affairs to be
published.

AN ACT entitled, an act to regulate the fees of
the Notaries Public of Kent, Cecil, Anne Arun-
del, Carroll, Washington, Allegany and Caro-
line counties.

Passed March
5, 1858.

WHEREAS, the fees of notaries public in Kent, Cecil,
Anne Arundel, Carroll, Washington, Allegany
and Caroline counties are too inconsiderable
and insufficient to induce competent persons
to undertake the duties of said office and it
being a matter of public convenience that such
offices should be in qualified hands; Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the notaries public of
Kent, Cecil, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Washing-
ton, Allegany and Caroline counties shall not be
required to account or pay over to this State any
tax on protests, unless the fees on protests in any
one year shall exceed the sum of two hundred
and fifty dollars, in which case they shall be re-
quired to account to the treasurer for the tax now
fixed by law, and shall render yearly accounts to
said treasurer of their fees of office.
