be used in the Primary Schools of the county, and
such books shall be uniform in the several schools
of the county, and it shall be the duty of the
trustees of each Primary School, to appropriate
an amount annually, not exceeding twenty-five
dollars, out of the Public School fund, to the pur-
chase of books and stationery, under the direction
of the board of inspectors.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That from and after
the first Tuesday in June, succeeding the passage
of this act, it shall not be lawful for the trustees
of any Primary School District of Howard county,
to employ as teacher of any Primary School in
said county, any person who has not complied
with each and every requisition of this act, nor
shall it thereafter be lawful for the County Com-
missioners, to pay or cause to be paid for the use
of any Primary School, any money or moneys
whatsoever, unless the trustees and teacher or
teachers of such school, have complied with all
the provisions of this act.

Repealed.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts
of acts inconsistent with the provisions of this act,
be and the same are hereby repealed.

In force.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to provide for the relief of the poor and
indigent persons of Somerset County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Samuel W. Jones, Samuel
S. Coston, Josiah S. Crockett, Henry Ward, Tub-
man L. Hall, Purnell Toadvine, Dr. George R.
Dennis and John Turner, of Somerset county, bo,
and they are hereby appointed commissioners, and
they or a majority of them, shall have full power
and authority to contract for and purchase a farm
or parcel of land, in quantity not exceeding six
hundred acres, in the name of the trustees of the
