warrant of the Comptroller, to Thomas Devec-
mon, Attorney of Alton Coleman, the sum of two
hundred and nineteen dollars and seventy-four
cents, being the amount of money paid by the
said Alton Coleman under the judgment of the
Circuit Court for Allegany county, in favor of the
State against him, upon a forfeited recognizance,
and which judgment was subsequently reversed
and the recognizance declared void by the Court
of Appeals.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.

AN ACT appropriating a sum of money for
the rendering more secure against fire the
State House, and the public archives, for
erecting a fire proof Record office and for en-
larging the State Library Room, and the Hall
of the House of Delegates, &c.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the sum of fifty thousand
dollars be, and the same is hereby appropriated out
of any unappropriated funds in the Treasury, to
pay for rendering the State House more secure
against fire, by the introduction of steam heat, for
the enlarging of the Library Room, and the Hall
of the House of Delegates, for the erection of a
fire proof Record office, and for providing water
tanks, and other securities against damage of the
public buildings by fire, and for lighting the same
with gas.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That of the said
sum of fifty thousand dollars, twenty thousand
dollars, or so much thereof as may be required,
be expended under the direction of the commit-
tee hereinafter provided for, in the erection, with-
in State House circle, of a fire proof Record office
|
