AN ACT for the relief of the Trustees of the Fred-
erick Female Seminary.
|

WHEREAS, It has been represented to this General
Assembly, by the memorial of Lemuel Roberts,
the Commissioner of Lotteries of this State, that,
the trustees of the Frederick Female Seminary
have presented a claim to him, as the Commissioner
of Lotteries, for payment and allowance out of the
proceeds of the lottery grants, for the sum of three
thousand eight hundred and sixty-two dollars, for
costs and charges by them paid in the case of the
scire facias issued against the Commissioners and
Trustees of the said Female Seminary, by the Attor-
ney General in the name of the State of Maryland,
which writ of scire facias was issued by the autho-
rity and direction of the General Assembly, by an
act passed at the session of 1845, chapter 75, and
that the said Commissioner of Lotteries having
examined into the subject matter and nature of the
said claim, and being anxious and willing that
the said claim should be allowed, but doubting his
power and authority to make said allowance with-
out the sanction of the General Assembly &c.

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Commissioner of Lotteries
be, and he is hereby authorised and required to allow
and pay to the Trustees of the Frederick Female
Seminary; the said sum of three thousand eight
hundred and sixty-two dollars, out of the proceeds
of the lottery grants, so that the said Trustees receive
from the said proceeds of the lotteries, the full sum
