To fill vacan-
cies.
|
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That if any of the Com-
missioners appointed under the thirteenth section of
said charier shall resign, or refuse, or neglect to serve,
it shall be the duty of the Judge of the Circuit Court
on application of said company, to make appoint-
ments to fill said vacancies, and that the compensa-
tion of each Commissioner shall be the sum of two
dollars per day, and necessary travelling expenses.

Authorised to
run coaches.
|
SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the said compa-
ny shall be authorised to own and run a line of stage
coaches between the points with which said road is
intended to connect and to make such charges for the
transportation of passengers, mails and other articles
as the said company may deem advisable, and that
the said company are hereby authorised to sell the
stock or the bonds of the company at such prices
and on such terms and conditions as the said compa-
ny may deem expedient, and may declare "dividends
payable in stock as scrip."

To receive in
lieu of money.
|
SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the said Com-
pany may have the privilege, and they are hereby
empowered at their option, to receive on subscrip-
tion to their capital stock in lieu of money, other
mortgages or deeds for land at a valuation and on
such terms as may be agreed upon by said company
and such subscribers; and all lands so received shall
be exposed to sale in good faith within ten years

Proviso.
|
from the dates of said deeds respectively; Provided,
That nothing herein contained shall be so construed
as to authorise the said company to release any cash
subscriptions by accepting land in lieu thereof.

In force.
|
SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.
