not have expired, may continue such business under
said unexpired license till the expiration thereof, after
which expiration and not before, they and all of them
shall become subject to the provisions of this bill ;
and all persons heretofore required to purchase of
the State a license to exercise or carry on any branch
of business or pursuit, for which no provision is
made in this law, nor any new rate of charge for such
license fixed herein, shall be and remain subject to
the rates and provisions of previous laws on those
subjects applicable to them, or to the business or oc-
cupation they severally and respectively pursue.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That no applicant
tor a trader's license shall be permitted under such
license to sell any spirituous or fermented liquors un-
less he shall take out an ordinary license of twenty-

CHAPTER 354.

Proviso.

AN ACT to incorporate the Patapsco Bank of
Maryland.

Passed March
10, 1856.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That a bank, to be called and known
by the name of the Patapsco Bank of Maryland, be es-
tablished at the village of Ellicott's Mills, and all per-
sons who may become stockholders in the said bank,
are hereby made a corporation and body politic, un-
der the name and style of the Patapsco Bank of Ma-
ryland, and by that name shall be and are hereby made
capable in law to sue and be sued, plead and be im-
pleaded, answer and be answered, defend and be
defended in any court of record, or other place what-
ever, and also to make, have, and use a common seal,
and the same to break, alter and renew at pleasure,
and to make, issue and negotiate promissory notes,
and generally to do and execute all such matters and
things as to them shall appertain under the provisions
of this act.
