company, and is otherwise inconsistent with the pro-
visions of this act, be and the same is hereby re-
pealed.

AN ACT to limit the places for retailing certain arti-
cles in the city of Baltimore.

It shall not
be lawful.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That it shall not be lawful for any per-
son to engage in, conduct, or carry on the business
of retailing fresh slaughtered meats in the city of
Baltimore, except within the public market houses
thereof, and that every person who shall engage in,
conduct, or carry on the business of retailing fresh
slaughtered meats in said city, except within the pub-
lic market houses, as aforesaid, shall be liable, for
the first offence, to a penalty of ten dollars, and for
each succeeding offence, to a penalty of twenty dol-
lars, said penalties to be recovered on complaint be-
fore any single Justice of the Peace in said city, and
paid over to the Register of said city, to and for the

use of the same; Provided, however, that nothing in
this act shall be construed to prevent farmers from
selling their own produce or meats in the streets of
Baltimore.

To take effect.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall go
into effect from and after the date of its passage ;
Provided, the same be approved by the Mayor and
City Council of the City of Baltimore.
