CHAPTER 43.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT for the relief of James Owens, of Allegany
county.
|
Passed Feb.
27, 1856.
|
|
|
WHEREAS, James Owens is now confined in the jail
of Allegany county for a year past, in default of
entering into recognizance to indemnify Allegany
county from all charges that may accrue to it by rea-
son of an illegitimate child by him begotten upon
the body of Margaret Owens; And whereas, The
said James Owens and Margaret Owens have both
joined in a petition to the General Assembly of
Maryland, stating that the said James is unable to
give such security, and in which the said Marga-
ret has expressed her desire to have the said James
released; Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of the State of Maryland, That it shall and may be
lawful for the Judge of the Circuit Court for Allega-
ny county, to order the release and discharge of the
said James Owens from the jail of said county, and
from his confinement therein, by reason of the de-
fault to give the recognizance in the preamble reci-
ted.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.
CHAPTER 44.
|
In force.
|
|
|
AN ACT entitled, an act to change the name of the
town of Llangollen, in Allegany county, to that of
Bloomington.
|
Passed Feb.
27, 1856.
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the name of the town of Llan-
gollen, in Allegany county, be and the same is here-
by changed to that of Bloomington.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the act passed by
the General Assembly at the session of 1854, chap-
ter 44, be and the same is hereby repealed.
