SBC. 3. And be it enacted, That the Legislature
reserves the right to alter, amend or repeal this act a
pleasure.

Reservation.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 324.

In force.

AN ACT to incorporate the Mutual Insurance Com-
pany of Charles county.

10, 1856.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That Robert Fergusson, Ignatius
H. Lancaster, John G. Chapman, Francis W.
Weems, Samuel Cox, John H. Diggs, George Brent,
Walter H. Mitchell, Francis Thompson, Francis
Green, Sylvester F. Gardiner, Barnes Compton, Uz
ziel Nally, Charles Wills, Robert Dyson, Francis B.
F. Burgess, William Fergusson, John F. Gardiner,
Thomas Carrico, William Queen, Elishal Gardiner,
Sylvester Mudd, or any ten of them; and all other
persons who may hereafter associate with them in the
manner herein prescribed be and they are hereby in-
corporated by the name of the Mutual Insurance
Company of Charles county, for the purpose of in-
suring their respective dwelling houses, manufacto-
ries, mills, stores, shops and other buildings, mer-
chandise, household furniture and other property ;
against loss or damage by fire, and by such name,
shall have succession to sue and be sued, plead and
be impleaded in any court of law or equity in this
State, to have, make and use a common seal and the
same to break, alter and renew at pleasure.

Incorporated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the first named
twelve persons shall be the directors of said compa-
ny until the first Monday of May, eighteen hundred
and fifty-seven; at which time and annually thereaf-
ter, twelve directors shall be elected to manage the
affairs of said company; and each member having
property insured to the amount of one hundred dol-
lars, shall be entitled to one vote; and notice of every
