AN ACT to relieve James A. Waddle of Dorches-
ter county, from certain colonization taxes due the
State of Maryland in the year eighteen hundred
and thirty-eight and thirty-nine.
|

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, it appears that the said James A. Wad-
dle, collected and paid the above named tax to the
deputy attorney of Dorchester county, and the said
attorney of the county aforesaid, failed to settle
with the Treasurer and the above named James
A. Waddle, was kept in profound ignorance of the
matter for fifteen years, which will more fully appear
by the accompanying certificate of Brice J. Golds-
borough states attorney for Dorchester county for
eighteen hundred and fifty-five; therefore.

To be releas-
ed from pay-
ment.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That James A. Waddle of Dorchester
county, former sheriff and collector of said county,
for the years eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, thir-
ty-eight, and thirty-nine, be released from the pay-
ment of four hundred and thirty-four dollars and
sixty six cents, and interest, it being the coloniza-
tion tax for eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, and
a part of eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, it being
erroneously paid by him.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

AN ACT for the relief of Edward A. Talbott, late
Sheriff of Howard county.

Commission-
ers to make an
additional
levy.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the commissioners of Howard
county be and they are hereby authorised and di-
rected to levy an additional commission of four per
centum on the amount of taxes placed in his hands
|
