or until their successors shall have been chosen, and
the said company may by their by laws prescribe the
number of directors to be hereafter chosen, Provided
however, that the number of directors shall not be less
than five.

Proviso.

SEC. 4. Be it enacted, That nothing herein con-
tained shall be taken or construed, so as to authorise
the said company to establish a banking institution in
the State of Maryland, or exercise directly or indi-
rectly in this State any of the privileges of a bank.

Banking for-
bid.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the State of Ma-
ryland shall have, and hereby reserves the power at
any time hereafter to repeal or alter this charter.

CHAPTER 274.

Reservation.

AN ACT, appropriating a sum of money for the use
of Nicholas H. Green.

Passed Mar.
10, 1856.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Treasurer is hereby re-
quired on the warrant of the Comptroller, to pay to
Nicholas H. Green, or his order, twenty-one dollars
and twenty cents, being the amount due him as Clerk
of the Circuit Court for Arundel county, by the State
of Maryland.

Treasurer to
pay.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.
