AN ACT amendatory of an act passed at January
session eighteen hundred and fifty four, chapter one
hundred and nine, entitled, an act to alter and
amend the charter of the Hagerstown Savings In-
stitution by allowing its corporate name to be
changed, and to discount foreign bills of exchange.

Authorised to
change name.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Hagerstown Savings Bank,
be and it is hereby authorised whenever the president
and directors of said bank shall deem it expedient, to
|
|
|

|
change the name of said bank, to that of "Hagers-
town Union Bank," Provided, that before said bank
shall .issue any notes under the name authorised by
this act, the treasurer shall be certified of the change
by a copy of such resolution on the part of said bank,
under the hand of the president and corporate seal of
said bank.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That so much of the pro-
viso of the tenth section of said act as confines said
bank to discounting inland bills of exchange, be so
amended as to include foreign bills of exchange.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.

ville and La Orange Turnpike company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John Wise, James Turner, sr.,
Richard Green, Dr. James More and William Kirkwood
of Baltimore county, and Evan S. Rogers, Nicholas
H. Nelson, James H. Jarrett, James Rumpley, jr.,
James R. Scarff and Thomas Henderson of Harford
county, be and they are hereby appointed commission-
ers to take subscriptions to the capital stock of the
