CHAPTER 2.

AN ACT authorizing the Comptroller of the Treasury,
to pay to Oelrichs and Lurman, the amount of cou-
pons lost in the United States Mail Steamer Arctic.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, It hath been alleged to this General Assem-
bly, that the house of Baring Brothers and Company, of
London, forwarded on the nineteenth day of Septem-
ber, in the year eighteen hundred and fifty-four, to
the house of Oelrichs and Lurman, of Baltimore City,
by the mails of the United States Mail Steamer Arc-
tic, the following Maryland State Coupons, to wit:
One coupon, number seventy-seven, of bond number
one hundred and forty-seven, for the State's six per
cent. loan under the authority of the act of eighteen
hundred and thirty-four, chapter two hundred and
forty-one, being for fifteen dollars, interest on said
loan due the first day of October, in the year eighteen
hundred and fifty-four, payable to I. J. Cohen Jr.,
and Brothers, or bearer, and by them endorsed: also
fifty-three other coupons of like tenor, of bond num-
ber seventy-seven, numbered two hundred and sev-
enty-one, two hundred and seventy-two, three hun-
dred and twenty-four to three hundred and sixty-five,
inclusive, four hundred and fifty-one to four hundred
and fifty-eight, inclusive, and five hundred and fifty-
eight: also twenty-nine other coupons of like tenor,
of bond number seventy-six, numbered seven hun-
dred and fifty-seven to seven hundred and sixty-two,
inclusive, eight hundred and thirty-one to eight hun-
dred and thirty-eight, inclusive; eight hundred and
ninety-seven to nine hundred and one, inclusive; nine
hundred and ninety-four to nine hundred and ninety-
seven inclusive, one thousand and seventy-nine, one
thousand and eighty-nine to one thousand and ninety-
two inclusive, and one thousand and ninety-five, also
two other coupons of like tenor, of bond number sev-
enty-five, numbered eleven hundred and ninety-two
and eleven hundred and ninety-three, also sixty-two
other coupons of like tenor, of bond number seventy-
four, numbered fourteen hundred and twelve to four-
teen hundred and sixty-nine inclusive, and fifteen
hundred and forty-seven to fifteen hundred and fifty
inclusive, also one other coupon of like tenor, of bond
number seventy-three, numbered seventeen hundred
and sixty eight, also fifty-eight other coupons of like
