same shall be paid out by him on the order of the
president and directors signed by the president.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the said President
and Directors, or a majority of them, shall hare full
power and authority to contract for and cause to be
erected the bridge aforementioned, and are hereby
authorised to select such site for said bridge as they
or a majority of them, shall, in their judgment, deem-
most safe and convenient; and they or a majority of
them shall have full power and authority to agree with
and appoint such engineers, superintendants, and other
officers as they may think necessary to construct the
said bridge, and to contract and agree for materials
and all such articles as they may deem necessary;
and they or a majority of them are hereby authorised
to draw upon the Treasurer of the said Company for
all money to pay the wages or salaries of all persons
by them appointed or employed in the service of the
said Company, or for materials furnished and labor
done.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the shares in the
said bridge shall be deemed and considered perso-
nal property, and every stockholder of a share or
shares may sell and transfer the same or any part
thereof, not being less than one complete share, by
writing under his or her hand and seal in the pre-
sence of two witnesses; and the transfer being either
acknowledged by the party making the same, or
proved by two witnesses before the board of mana-
gers, or before any justice of the peace of any coun-
ty, or Mayor, Recorder, Alderman, of any city or
borough, and shall be registered in a book to be
kept by the company for that purpose, and when
registered shall be delivered to the purchaser who
shall then, and not before, be entitled to all the
rights which the original subscriber or proprietor en-
joyed.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That so soon as the said
bridge shall have been completed, it shall be lawful
for the said Company to demand and receive the
following tolls and rates for passing the same, that
is to say, for a man, horse, mule, or work ox, six
and a quarter cents; for all riding carriages, wagons,
carts, sleighs, and sledges, six and a quarter cents, per
wheel or runner; for every head of neat cattle two
cents; and for every score of sheep, hogs, goats, or
lambs twenty cents, and in proportion thereto for a
greater or less number; and if a greater sum shall
