CHAPTER 228.

To take effect.

AN ACT authorising the County Commissioners of
Cecil county, in their discretion, to levy a sum of
money for the construction of a new bridge over
Back creek, in said county.

Passed March
10, 1856.

WHEREAS, It is represented to the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, by petition, and otherwise, that
the bridge across Back creek, in Cecil county, has
fallen into decay, thereby rendering travel unsafe,
and otherwise detrimental to the interest of the
community, from its obstructing the navigation of
a navigable stream, and that from the increased
travel and improvements which have taken place
in its vicinity, the flourishing village of Chesa-
peake city having sprung up on either side of the
creek, the wants of the community require and
demand a bridge of a more enlarged and substan-
tial character; therefore,

Preamble.
