eighteen hundred and thirty-two, to John Waten,
Levin Ballard, of Jarvis, James Pheobus, Stephen
Drura, Richard E. Waten, Daniel Ballard, Lewis
Pheobus, Arnold H. Ballard and William Sudler; and
recorded among the land records of Somerset coun-
ty, and their successors, perpetuated as therein named,
had regularly conveyed the title in them vested by
said deed to this incorporated body, according to and
for the uses, purposes and trusts in said deed men-
tioned.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 219.

In force.

A SUPPLEMENT to an act entitled, an act for
founding a College at Chestertown.

10, 1856.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That in addition to the sum now an-
nually paid to the Visitors and Governors of Washing-
ton College, there shall be paid to said Visitors and
Governors annually, the further sum of one thousand
dollars, as compensation for the boarding of one stu-
dent from each of the counties on the Eastern Shore
as required by resolution number thirty one, of eigh-
teen hundred and forty seven, which sum shall be
paid out of any unappropriated money in the treasury.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any youth hereaf-
ter sent to said college by virtue of an order of any
orphans' court, shall be examined by the faculty of
said college, both in respect to his moral and intellec-
tual character, and such examination may be repeated
whenever the said Visitors shall so require, and a like
examination may also be had from time to time of those
who are now students in said college by virtue of any
such order, and if upon such examination the said
Faculty shall find and certify to the Visitors, that in
their opinion such youth or student from any cause,
moral or intellectual, is not likely so to profit by a
course of instruction as to become an intelligent, use-
ful and exemplary member of society, then it shall be
