LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 213.

Passed March
10, 1856.

AN ACT to direct the payment of one-half the
arrears of pension due by this State to the late Col.
John H. Stone, of the revolutionary army at the
time of his death, Zepheniah H. Turner, one of
the heirs of said Stone, and the person legally en-
titled to receive the same.

Cause to be
paid.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the proper accounting officers of the
Treasury, pay or cause to be paid to Zepheniah H. Tur-
ner the sum of five hundred and twenty five dollars,
it being the amount of one-half the arrears of pen-
sion due to the late John H. Stone, for revolutionary
services due and allowed to him by the laws and res-
olutions of this State, and remaining unpaid at the
time of his death, said Turner being the only surviv-
ing child and sole representative of one of the two
children left by said Stone, and therefore the person
legally entitled to receive the same, and upon the is-
suance of the warrant for the said sum of money by
the Comptroller upon the Treasurer, said Comptroller
is hereby directed to take from said Turner a re-
ceipt in writing in full for one-half of said arrears of
pension, which receipt he shall file with other similar
papers in his office.

Sum appro-
priated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the sum of five
hundred and twenty-five dollars be and the same is
hereby appropriated for the purpose aforesaid out of
any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.

To take effect.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect and be in force from and after the day of
its final passage by the Legislature.
