footing of other purchasers, until the maturity of said
bonds, when the same are to be cancelled.

Arrears
of interest.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted. That all the arrears of
interest accruing upon the bonds to be delivered as
aforesaid to the said rail road company, prior to the
dale when said rail road company shall become entitled
to the delivery thereof, and also all the arrears of inter
est accruing upon the bonds, which may be sold or nego-
tiated by the said board of trustees, as authorized by
this act, prior to the date of sale or the giving the same
in pledge, shall be released by proper acquittances to be
given to the said city of Cumberland, unless the said
city of Cumberland, shall by an ordinance on the sub-
ject to be passed and published, waive its right to such
release and acquittances.

Assent.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That before any thing be
done under this act, the said rail road company and the
said city of Cumberland, shall show their assent to the
same, the former by a resolution to be adopted at any
authorized 'meeting of the stockholders, held for the
transaction of business, and the latter, by an ordinance
for that purpose, to be passed at any meeting of the cor-
poration of which said resolution and city ordinance,
copies duly attested by the proper officers of said cor-
porate bodies respectively, shall be filed with the Secre-
tary of State; and that thereupon the said corporate
bodies, shall have power and authority to do any matter
or thing within the purview of this act, as fully as though
such power and authority had been specially conferred
by the original acts incorporating the parties.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the day it may be passed.
