is situated; and the record thereof shall be evidence
of the route and limits of the said road; and the
said company are hereby also authorised to own and
run a line of stage coaches between the points with
which said road is intended to connect, and make
such charges for the transportation of passengers,
mails and other articles, as the said company may
deem advisable.

Reservation.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That the Legisla-
ture reserves to itself the right of amending, altering
or repealing all or any part of this act.

To take effect.

SEC. 21. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect and have full operation from the day of its
passage.

CHAPTER 150.

8, 1856.

AN ACT to establish a primary school on Wye Is-
land, in Queen Anne's county.

To elect trus-
tees.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the owners of real and personal
properly, situated on Wye Island in Queen Anne's
county, subject to taxation, and residents of said coun-
ty, be and they are hereby authorised at a public
meeting to be held on said Island, to elect from their
number three persons to act as Trustees for a primary
school to be established on said Island; Provided,
that a majority of said meeting shall first determine
at said meeting, to establish a primary school on said
Island.

Power to con-
demn a piece
of land.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Trus-
tees or a majority of them shall have power to select
and condemn a piece of land not exceeding a half
acre, as a site for said school, to adjudge the value of
the land so condemned, to erect thereon a suitable
building for a school house, and to employ a teacher
therefor as teachers are now employed in other prima-
ry school district in said county.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That unless the per-
