SEC. 16. And be it enacted, That on the comple-
tion of the said railroad, or any section thereof, it
shall and may be lawful for the said company to de-
mand and receive for tolls and transportation of all
goods, produce, merchandise, or property of any
kind, whatsoever, at the rate of six cents a ton per
mile, and for the transportation of passengers, at the
rate of five cents per mile for each passenger.

SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That if any person
or persons shall willfully or knowingly break, injure,
or destroy the railroad, or any part thereof, to be
erected by the said company, in pursuance of tins
act, or shall in any manner obstruct the free passage
along the said railroad, he, she or they shall forfeit
and pay to the said company three times the actual
damages so sustained, to be sued for and recovered,
with costs of suit, before any justice of the peace,
or in any court having cognizance thereof, by action
of debt, or on the case, in the name and for the use
of the said company.

SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That this company
shall have power, from time to time, and at all times,
to increase its capital stock, by additional subscrip-
tions, to the amount of three hundred thousand dol-
lars, and from time to time to borrow money for cor-
porate purposes or uses, not exceeding in the aggre-
gate of the whole amount so borrowed two hundred
thousand dollars, and to mortgage the property of
the said company for that purpose.

SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That the president
and directors of said company shall have full power
and authority to connect the railroad, which may be
constructed under the provisions of this act, with any
other railroad now existing, or which may hereafter
be constructed in Cecil, Kent, or Queen Anne's
counties, and also to make such contracts and ar-
rangements with the presidents and directors of such
railroad for the through transportation of passengers
and merchandise, and all property of what kind so-
ever, in the cars or carriages of either company, as
may appear to said president and directors conve-
nient and advantageous.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That the said company
shall have full power to purchase and to hold all real es-
tate necessary for the purposes of the said railroad, or
any of their works; to buy and build wharves, houses
and shops for corporate purposes; to purchase and hold
