free persona of lawful age to one or more shares of
one hundred dollars each of such stock, to an amount
not more than three hundred and fifty thousand dol-
lars; the said Commissioners may close the subscrip-
tion books as soon as fifteen hundred shares or more
shall have been subscribed for, and within ten days
thereafter, they, or any three of them, shall fix a day
and place in the city of Baltimore, and shall give ten
days notice thereof to the stockholders to meet and
elect four of the stockholders directors of the Com-
pany, to hold office until the next annual election ;
and any three or more of the Commissioners shall be
judges of such election. The Commissioners shall
then deliver to the directors so elected the subscrip-
tion books, and shall pay over all moneys received
from subscribers to the stock, having first defrayed
the expenses incurred by them in the performance of
their duties as Commissioners.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That when fifteen hun-
dred shares of the capital stock shall have been sub-
scribed as aforesaid, the subscribers of said stock,
their successors and assigns shall be, and they are
hereby created a body politic and corporation, un-
der, and by the name of the Gilmor House Company,
and by such name they shall have perpetual succes-
sion, be able and capable of to sue and be sued, em-
plead, answer and defend in any court of law or equity,
make and use a common seal, and establish such rules
and laws for their regulation and government as are
not repugnant to law.

corporate body.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That the object of this
corporation is to purchase the lot or parcel of ground
and premises at the southwest corner of Court House
Lane and Calvert street, in the city of Baltimore, and
such of the adjacent lots or parcels of ground as they
may think proper, and the buildings thereon made
and being and appurtenances thereunto belonging,
and the erecting thereupon of a Hotel; and for this
purpose they are hereby empowered to buy and hold
in fee simple, or for any less estate, the said lots or
parcels of ground with the buildings, and may alter
the structure of said buildings, or make and erect
such further and other buildings on said lots as may
be necessary, and furnish the same; and they are
hereby invested with all the powers, privileges and
rights, which the purposes of the corporation herein
declared may require; and the said corporation may
