CHAPTER 15.

AN ACT to extend the charter of the Baltimore Steam
Packet Company, passed at December session, eigh-
teen hundred and thirty-nine, chapter three hundred
and twenty-eight, for the period of twenty years.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the act entitled an act to incorpor-
ate the Baltimore Steam Packet Company, passed at De-
cember session, eighteen hundred and thirty nine, chap-
ter three hundred and twenty-eight, be and the same is
hereby continued in full force for the period of twenty
years from the tenth day of March, eighteen hundred
and sixty-two, and until the end of the next session of
the General Assembly which shall happen thereafter.

AN ACT to carry into effect the thirty-fifth section of
the third article of the Constitution of the State in re-
gard to the eligibility of persons to the offices there-
in specified and mentioned.

WHEREAS, The thirty-fifth section of the third article
of the Constitution of this State, declares that no per-
son who should after its adoption become a collector,
receiver or holder of public moneys, shall be eligible
as Senator or Delegate, or to any office of profit or
trust under this State, until he shall have accounted
for and paid into the Treasury all sums on the books
thereof charged to, and due by him; and whereas,
there has been no law passed by the Legislature,
wherein it is provided how the constitutional inhibi-
tion may be enforced, Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That each and every person who has be-
come since the adoption of the present Constitution of
this State, a collector, receiver or holder of public
