SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 86.

AN ACT to authorise the Justices of the Peace in
the several election districts of Allegany, Somer-
set, Harford, Caroline, and Cecil counties to de-
liver their dockets, and all official papers apper-
taining thereto, into the hands of their respective
successors in office.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the Justices of the Peace in the
several election districts of Allegany, Somerset, Har-
ford, Caroline and Cecil counties be, and they are
hereby authorised and required, in all cases where
they are superseded in office by the election of new
incumbents, to hand over and deliver to their re-
spective successors in office, their several dockets,
with all official papers appertaining thereto, instead
of delivering them to the clerks of the Circuit Courts
for said counties, as they are now required by Jaw to
do.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the several Jus-
tices of the Peace, to whom the dockets and official
papers may be delivered as aforesaid, shall keep and
preserve the same, to be handed over in like manner
to their respective successors in office; and that all
such dockets and official papers shall be used and
considered as the dockets and official papers of the
respective Justices of the Peace to whom the same
may be delivered, during their official terms of service ;
and that they be, and hereby respectively authorised
to proceed with suits, or any other unfinished business-
remaining undisposed of by their respective prede-
cessors in office, in the same manner as though such
suits, or other unfinished business had originated
within their respective terms of service; and that they
