INTRODUCTION OF RESOLUTION

Senator See asked that the rules be suspended in order to introduce
a resolution, and two-thirds of the Senators elected, voting in the affirma-
tive, the rules were suspended by yeas and nays as follows:

President, Bertorelli, Cole, Dean, Della, Dempsey, DiDomenico, Downey, Flanagan,
Friend, Goodman, James, Jewell, Malkus, Mason, Mattingly, Monroe, Mrs. Nock, North,
Northrop, Phipps, Phoebus, Eamsburg, Redden, See, Shipley, Turnbull, Weinroth,
Wheatley.                                                                                                     Total—29

Negative—None

The rules being suspended, Senate Resolution No. 2 was placed before
the Senate.

Senate Resolution No. 2—By Senator See:

Senate Resolution requesting the Superintendent of Buildings to renumber
the floors in the State House and Court of Appeals Buildings.

Whereas, in the current manner of referring to the floor levels in
both the State House and Court of Appeals Buildings, the lower or ground
floor is generally referred to as the basement; and

Whereas, if it be a matter of much convenience to the many visitors
in the State House as well as to the members of the General Assembly if
the several floor levels were redesignated so that what it now termed the
"basement" in each building would be styled as the first floor, while the
so-called main floor in each building would be the second floor and the
upper floor in each building would be the third floor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate of Maryland, That the Superintendent of
Buildings be and is hereby requested to redesignate the several floors in the
State House and the Court of Appeals Building beginning with the first
floor or the ground level of each building; and be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate be instructed to send a
copy of this resolution to the Superintendent of Buildings.
