The members of the Ways and Means Committee are accustomed
to rely and depend on the always able, courteous and prompt assist-
ance of Mr. Shriver and Mrs. Hoffman and the entire staff of the
Fiscal Research Bureau.

Mr. Shriver, Mrs. Hoffman and the Fiscal Research Bureau have
given unstintingly of their time, efforts and labor to the members
of the Ways and Means Committee.

The Ways and Means Committee wishes to take this means to
publicly thank John S. Shriver, Mrs. Janet Hoffman and Mrs. Louise
P. Bound for their quiet and unswerving devotion to duty; now
therefore be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the members
of the Ways and Means Committee express their most sincere ap-
preciation and deep gratitude to John S. Shriver and Mrs. Janet
Hoffman and the staff of the Fiscal Research Bureau; and be it
further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State be instructed to send copies
of this Resolution under the Great Seal of the State to Mr. John S.
Shriver, Mrs. Janet Hoffman and Mrs. Louise P. Bound.

(House Joint Resolution 16)

House Joint Resolution requesting the Governor to appoint a com-
mission to study methods and means whereby the municipalities
and political subdivisions of this State which are required to build
sewage disposal and sanitary facilities in order not to pollute the
streams, creeks, rivers, of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay and
its tributaries, can finance said sewage disposal and sanitary sys-
tems, and to make specific recommendations for legislation to the
General Assembly of Maryland if said legislation be necessary.

Whereas, It is the public policy of the State of Maryland to re-
quire that all of Maryland's inland streams, rivers, creeks, and lakes
as well as the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries be kept free and
clear of pollution; and

Whereas, All citizens of Maryland wherever they live benefit by
and from this policy of clean water through the sporting facilities
thereby enhanced as well as from the greater productivity of the
commercial products of our waters; and
