formation services such as the daily synopsis of bills, daily proceed-
ings, records of action on bills, preparation of the legislative journals
and numerous other services.
The Department is always prepared, and ready and willing to
assist the members of the General Assembly, and has done so
throughout the years in an always courteous, considerate and
thoughtful manner.
The entire body of the General Assembly feels it only right and
appropriate that the members express publicly their appreciation to
Dr. Everstine, Mr. Benson, and the entire membership of the Depart-
ment: Miss Sarah Pearre, Mrs. Carol McCarthy, Mrs. Mary
Margaret Hammer, Mrs. Virginia Hubbard, Mrs. Judith Palmquist,
Mrs. Louise Herklotz, Mrs. Joyce Burdon, and Mrs. Nellie Webster,
and Mr. Edwin L. Stringer, J. Kemp Bartlett, III, Robert S. Bour-
bon, and William E. Brooke, Louis M. Hoff and the bill room clerks;
now therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the mem-
bers of the General Assembly express their deepest appreciation and
thanks to the Department of Legislative Reference, and to Dr. Carl
Everstein, and R. Lee Benson, and to the entire membership of the
Department, and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of State be instructed to send copies
rof this Resolution under the Great Seal of the State to Dr. Everstine,
Miss Pearre, Mesdames McCarthy, Hammer, Hubbard, Palmquist,
Herklotz, Burdon and Webster, and to Messrs. Benson, Stringer,
Bartlett, Bourbon, Brooke and Hoff.

(House Joint Resolution 27)
House Joint Resolution expressing the sincere appreciation and deep
gratitude of members of the Ways and Means Committee to John
S. Shriver and Mrs. Janet Hoffman and the staff of the Fiscal
Research Bureau.
During each session of the General Assembly Mr. Shriver and
Mrs, Hoffman have worked in close cooperation with the House Ways
and Means Committee on all bills referred to this committee, especi-
ally in conjunction with the committee's exhaustive study of the
annual budget.
