profits over and above those required to meet the provisions above
shall be paid over to the Board of County Commissioners of Garrett
County to be applied for the general lawful purposes of the County.
159. Applicability.
This sub-title shall apply to Garrett, Harford, Montgomery, Kent,
Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the effectiveness of this
Act shall be contingent upon its approval at a referendum of the
qualified voters of Garrett County as in this section provided. The
referendum shall be held at the time of the regular State-wide elec-
tion in Garrett County in the month of November, 1956. The Board
of Supervisors of Elections and the Board of County Commissioners
of Garrett County shall do such things as are necessary and proper
to submit this Act to a referendum to the qualified voters of Garrett
County at said election. The referendum shall be conducted gen-
erally in agreement with the provisions of Article 33 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland, title "Elections". There shall be printed on
the ballots or the ballot labels as the case may be a summary of the
provisions of this Act with suitable provision made for the voters
to indicate their choice for or against the question proposed by this
section. On the ballots or the ballot labels, there shall be printed
the words "for Dispensary Law" and "Against Dispensary Law"
with suitable provision in either instance for the voters to indicate
their choice for or against said question. If a majority of the voters
casting their vote on said question shall vote "for Dispensary Law",
this Act shall be effective immediately, according to its terms. If
a majority of the persons voting on this question shall vote "Against
Dispensary Law", this Act shall be null and void and of no further
effect whatsoever.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 31 (c) of
Article 66i/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Administration—Registration—
Titling", requiring all fees received by the tax collector for the
first tax collection district of Allegany County for the issuance of
license plates to be turned over to the County Commissioners of
said County to be placed in a General Fund of the County.
