has enrolled its employees in the Employees' Retirement System of
the State of Maryland, who at any previous time was an elected or
appointed official of the State, shall be entitled upon application to
receive credit for prior service rendered by them to the State of
Maryland. The Board of Trustees shall verify the fact of previous
tenure as an elected or appointed official of the State of Maryland,
compute the amount due from the State for the prior service credit,
and is authorized and directed to include the said amount in the
appropriation in next ensuing State budget.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1955.

AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 663 of Article 66C of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1954 Supplement), title "Nat-
ural Resources", sub-title "Fish and Fisheries", sub-heading "Oys-
ters and Clams", said new sub-section to be known as Sub-section
(f) and to follow immediately after Sub-section (e) thereof, pro-
hibiting the taking of soft shell clams (mya arenaria) by certain
devices in the waters of Somerset County., KENT AND ST.
MARY'S COUNTIES.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new sub-section be and it is hereby added to Section 663 of
Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1954 Supplement),
title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Fish and Fisheries", sub-head-
ing "Oysters and Clams", said new sub-section to be known as Sub-
section (f) and to follow immediately after Sub-section (e) thereof,
and to read as follows:
663.
(f) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to
take, catch or dredge soft shell clams (mya arenaria) from any
county waters of Somerset County , KENT AND ST. MARY'S
COUNTIES by the use of any hydraulic or mechanical dredges. Any
such person, firm or corporation so doing shall, upon conviction
thereof before any Justice of the Peace, be fined $500.00 and costs.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
