mendations shall be advisory in nature and the appointing authority
may affirm the original action or modify it pursuant to the Board's
recommendations.
255DD. The Personnel Director shall maintain adequate records
of his own official acts, the examination record of every candidate,
and the employment record of every employee.
255EE. During the course of any investigation or hearing the
Personnel and Salary Advisory Board or the Personnel Director may
request any employee of the county to attend and testify.
255FF. There shall be no discrimination against any person seek-
ing employment or employed in the classified service because of any
considerations of political or religious affiliation or belief, or race, sex
or marital status.
255GG. Should any part of this sub-title be declared illegal the
Board of County Commissioners declares that it would have adopted
all the other provisions notwithstanding such illegality of a part, and
all remaining parts shall remain in effect.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

CHAPTER 74
(House Bill 278)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 290 of
Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1954 Supplement),
title "Testamentary Law", sub-title "Register of Wills", providing
that the office of the register of wills for Worcester County may be
closed for the dispatch of business on Saturdays.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 290 of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
(1954 Supplement), title "Testamentary Law", sub-title "Register of
Wills", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
290. Attendance at office; preservation of papers; absence in
military service. He shall attend his office daily in person or by
deputy unless prevented by sickness, accident or necessity for the
dispatch of office business; provided, that the offices of the registers
of wills of Dorchester, Montgomery, [and] Wicomico and Worcester
counties may, at the discretion of the register of wills in each such
county, be closed on Saturdays; he shall lodge every original paper
