sions or salary so long as he remains in any such office or position.
No pension shall be payable hereunder to any retired Judge of the
People's Court of Baltimore City who is receiving another pension
under the Employees' Retirement System of the City of Baltimore.
No pension shall be payable hereunder to any former Judge who
has not actively served as a Judge for at least twenty (20) years
or retires before he has become sixty years of age if such former
Judge engages in the active practice of law after his retirement
from the judgeship. The Mayor and City Council of Baltimore are
hereby expressly authorized to levy for and pay such pensions or
salaries to former Judges of said People's Court of Baltimore City.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That a new section be and is
hereby added to the Charter and Public Local Laws of Baltimore
City (1949 Edition), being Article 4 of the Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title ''Baltimore City", sub-title "People's Court", said
new section to be known as Section 436-B, to follow immediately
after Section 436-A and to read as follows:

436-B. The widow of every elected Judge who dies in active
service shall be paid one-half of the pension or salary the Judge
would have received if his service had been terminated by retire-
ment and for this purpose only, the age of the Judge is not to be
considered; the widow of any Judge who dies after retiring at the
age of seventy years shall be paid one-half of the pension or salary
to which her husband was entitled at the time of his death. In each
instance the pension is to be paid to the widow until her remarriage
or death. The provisions of this section shall not apply in the case
of a widow who was married to the Judge for a period less than
three years and to a retired Judge for a period less than three years
before his retirement; nor shall it apply in the case of a widow,
otherwise qualified, of a Judge who retired before reaching the age
of seventy years, but it shall apply to the unmarried widows, other-
wise qualified, of Judges and retired Judges who died before the
passage of this Act.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
January 1, 1956.

(Senate Bill 411)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 59 of
Article 101 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Workmen's Compensation", sub-title "Miscellaneous", re-
lating to suits against third persons, and providing the time
when limitations on such suits by employees shall begin to run.
