CHAPTER 578
(Senate Bill 305)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 465 (b)
of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Health", sub-title "Chiropractic", relating to certain chiro-
practors who need not be licensed to practice physical therapy.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 465 (b) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "Chiropractic", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
465.
(b) All examinations in the preclinical basic sciences shall be in
writing, the subjects of which shall be as follows: Anatomy and
histology, physiology, pathology, chemistry and bacteriology, and the
clinical subjects symptomatology, chiropractic principles, orthopedy,
neurology and hygiene; chiropractic technic and practice, physical
diagnosis, roentgenology and physical therapy as defined in Section
656 of this Article and may be either written or oral at the discretion
of the Board. Provided, however, that no chiropractors licensed after
June 1, 1949, or who were not attending a duly licensed college of
chiropractic on such date AND SUBSEQUENTLY GRADUATED
THEREFROM, shall practice physical therapy until he shall have
successfully passed an examination before said Board on that sub-
ject, but any applicant may be licensed as a chiropractor with-
out the right to practice physical therapy upon the successful pass-
age of an examination on the subjects hereinbefore mentioned
other than the subject of physical therapy. A license shall be granted
to all applicants who shall correctly answer seventy-five percentum
(75%) of all questions asked, and if any applicant shall fail to
answer correctly sixty percentum (60%) of the questions on any
branch of said examination he or she shall not be entitled to a license.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
