CHAPTER 562
(Senate Bill 128)

AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 30 of Article 66 1/2 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1954 Supple-
ment), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Administration—Regis-
istration—Titling", said new sub-section to be known as Sub-
section (f), to follow immediately after Sub-section (e), author-
izing the issue and providing the procedure for the issue of
special registration plates to those owners of any registered
passenger motor vehicle who hold an amateur radio station license
issued by the Federal Communications Commission.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new sub-section be and it is hereby added to Section 30 of
Article 66 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition and
1954 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Administra-
tion—Registration—Titling", said new sub-section to be known as
Sub-section (f), to follow immediately after Sub-section (e), and
to read as follows:

(f) Upon application to the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles by
the owner of any registered passenger motor vehicle, accompanied
with due proof that said owner holds an unrevoked and unexpired
official amateur radio station license issued by the Federal Communi-
cations Commission, and upon payment of a fee of $1.00
$5.00 in addi-
tion to any other fees required by this Article, the Department shall
issue for said passenger motor vehicle special registration plates
upon which shall be inscribed in letters and numerals not less than
three inches high and in strokes of not less than one-quarter inch
in width the official amateur radio call letters of such applicant as
assigned by the Federal Communications Commission in lieu of
the numerals required to be displayed on such registration plates
under other provisions of this Article. Provided, however, said
registration plates may only be displayed when the vehicle is
equipped with an amateur radio station and properly licensed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is

SHALL TAKE EFFECT MARCH 1,1956.
