SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That Chapter 416 of the Acts of
the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at its January Session in
the year 1947, providing for the issuance of Two Hundred Thousand
Dollars ($200,000.00) of Somerset County school bonds, and Chapter
698 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at its
January Session in the year 1949, and Chapter 628 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at its January Session in the
year 1951, creating a school building fund for Somerset County and
defining the sources of the monies to be paid into said fund and the
manner of expenditure thereof, be and the same are hereby repealed.
SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That the various provisions of
this Act shall be regarded as separate and severable, and should any
section, sentence, clause or provision thereof be held invalid or un-
constitutional for any reason, the validity of the remaining parts
hereof shall not be affected thereby.
SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public health and safety, and having been passed by a
yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all of the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to add Section 276 (q) to Article 81 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Revenue and Taxes," sub-title
"Special Taxes," sub-heading "Income Tax," to follow immediately
after Section 276 (p) thereof, excluding from gross income under
the State income tax, payments to policemen and firemen from
pension systems for certain injuries.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 81 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Revenue and
Taxes", sub-title "Special Taxes", sub-heading "Income Tax", said
new section to be known as Section 276 (q), to follow immediately
after Section 276 (p) thereof, and to read as follows:
276 (q) Payments received by policemen and firemen from pension
systems for injuries sustained in the line of duty.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
