(c) The following counties shall leave the decision as to whether
or not this section shall apply to the Board of County Commissioners
of the respective counties by appropriate resolution: Carroll, Dor-
chester, Frederick, Prince George's, Worcester, Washington, and
Wicomico. The tax collector for the first tax collection district of
Allegany County is hereby authorized and directed to act as the
agent of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles in the registration of
motor vehicles and trucks, as specified in this section. The County
Treasurers of Anne Arundel County, Cecil County, Somerset County,
Calvert County and Garrett County are hereby mandatorily directed
to act as the agent of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles in the
registration of motor vehicles of the Class A passenger or pleasure
type and to issue metal plates or markers, as hereinabove prescribed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

CHAPTER 515
(House Bill 650)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 338 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore County, 1948 Edition,
title "Public Works", sub-title "Sewer and Water", sub-heading
"Metropolitan District", relating to petitions for inclusion in the
Baltimore County Metropolitan District of adjoining localities.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 338 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore
County, title "Public Works", sub-title "Sewer and Water", sub-
heading "Metropolitan District", be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

338. Whenever three-fifths of the [registered voters now residing
in] owners of record title to lands lying in any locality in Baltimore
County adjoining the Baltimore County Metropolitan District, but
outside the boundaries thereof, [as constituted by Section 327* of
this Article,] shall, in writing, petition the Commissioners to have
the locality [the boundaries whereof shall be definitely stated in such
petition] included within the Metropolitan District, the Commission-
ers may, in their discretion, by and with the consent and approval
of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, extend said District to
include said locality, which locality shall become a part of said
District and subject to all the provisions of this Act, upon the record-
ing of such petition, together with the written approval of the Com-
missioners, and the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, in a book
to be kept by the Commissioners for that purpose, and upon such
publication as the Commissioners shall deem proper.
