CHAPTER 448
(Senate Bill 441)

AN ACT to add anew section to Article 64 A of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Merit System", said new section
to be known as Section 8A, and to follow immediately after Section
8 of said Article, providing for the inclusion of certain employees of
the State Roads Commission of Maryland in the Merit System.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 64A of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Merit System",
said new section to be known as Section 8A, and to follow immedi-
ately after Section 8 of said Article, and to read as follows:

8 A. On or after June 1, 1955, the Chairman of the State Roads
Commission shall certify to the Commissioner of Personnel, State of
Maryland, the name of any person
THEN employed as a toll collector
or superintendent of the Washington and Berkeley Bridge
, WHO
WAS SO EMPLOYED ON JANUARY 1, 1955, AND who is not,
at the time of such certification, included in the Merit System, with
the salary being paid, and said Commissioner is hereby directed to
classify said employee in the Merit System without further examina-
tion or restriction; and said Commissioner shall certify such person
to the Governor for inclusion in the Merit System. Upon approval by
the Governor, said employee shall thereafter be entitled to all the
rights and privileges, and subject to all the provisions of Article 64A.
Thereafter all appointments to such positions shall be made in con-
formity with Article 64A of the Annotated Code.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

CHAPTER 449
(Senate Bill 447)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section (b)
of Section 54 of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition and 1954 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages",
sub-title "Application for License", relating to the name of the
Liquor Control Board in Allegany County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-section (b) of Section 54 of Article 2B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1954 Supplement), title "Alco-
holic Beverages", sub-title "Application for License", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

54.

(b). (Allegany County.) In Allegany County the application
