CHAPTER 57
(Senate Bill 183)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1954 Supplement), title "Motor
Vehicles'', sub-title "Administration—Registration—Titling", said
new section to be known as Section 28A, and to follow immediately
after Section 28 thereof, permitting the Department of Motor
Vehicles to make refunds of overpayments in the motor vehicle
excise tax upon application for a motor vehicle title.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 66 1/2 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1954 Supplement),
title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Administration—Registration—
Titling", said new section to be known as Section 28A, to follow
immediately after Section 28 thereof, and to read as follows:

28A. Whenever the Department shall determine that there has
been an overpayment of the excise tax upon titling a motor vehicle,
or an overpayment has resulted from whatever cause, the Department
is authorized to submit such overpayments and the supporting data
whether accompanied by written claim or not, to the Comptroller
for refund to the person entitled thereto.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

Approved March 7, 1955.

CHAPTER 58
(Senate Bill 184)

AN ACT to repeal Section 41 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County", sub-title
"County Commissioners", as said section was amended by Chapter
580 of the Acts of 1947, and to enact in lieu thereof a new Section
41 to stand in the place and stead of the section so repealed,
authorizing the County Commissioners of Carroll County to borrow
upon the credit of said county such sums of money as they may
deem necessary, provided such loan shall not exceed $500,000 at
any one time.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 41 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County", sub-title "County
Commissioners", as said section was amended by Chapter 580 of the
Acts of 1947, be and it is hereby repealed and that a new Section 41
