Arundel County in effect at the completion of the 1955 Regular Ses-
sion of the General Assembly of Maryland; it shall be deemed and
taken in all the Courts of the State and by all Justices of the Peace
and Trial Magistrates of the State and by all other public officials
of the State and of any political sub-division thereof to be evidence
of the Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel County in existence at the
time of compilation.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Board of County Com-
missioners of Anne Arundel County be and it is hereby authorized
and directed to make an appropriation to provide for the publication
of said Code; and it further is authorized to provide for the sale and
distribution of said Code.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

(House Bill 685)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 544 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel County (1947 Edition),
being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Sheriff", as said section was
amended by Chapter 31 of the Acts of 1948 (Special Session), re-
lating to the personnel to be allowed the Sheriff of Anne Arundel
County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 544 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel
County (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Sheriff",
as said section was amended by Chapter 31 of the Acts of 1948
(Special Session), be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, and to read as follows:
544. [The Sheriff shall be allowed a warden to the jail to be
appointed by the Sheriff. The warden shall receive a salary of
Seventy-five Dollars per month to be paid by the County Commis-
sioners each month. The Sheriff shall receive an allowance of Twenty-
five Dollars per month for wages of the cook for the prisoners in
jail and an allowance of Sixty Dollars per month for a night guard
for said jail.] The Sheriff shall be allowed a warden and such other
personnel as deemed necessary by the County Commissioners to
adequately operate and maintain the jail, said warden and other
