each piece of said real estate. To said list shall be appended a notice
that if such tax or taxes, interest and penalties, and the costs of sale
be not paid before the first Monday of March following, the said
Treasurer will, on that day, at ten o'clock A. M., at the Court House,
in the town of Upper Marlboro, in said county, proceed to offer each
of the said parcels of real estate for sale at public auction to the
highest bidder for cash, to satisfy said taxes, interest, penalties and
costs of the sale thereon, beginning with the first parcel on said list
and continuing on in the order of said list, from day to day, from
ten o'clock A. M. until three o'clock P. M., Sundays, excepted, until
all shall have been offered for sale. And on said first Monday in March
the Treasurer shall proceed to make said sale in conformity with said
published notice.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 261 of
Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Howard County", sub-title "Roads", as said sec-
tion was amended by Chapter 26 of the Acts of 1951, relating to
the compensation of the County Road Superintendent of Howard
County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 261 of Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Howard County", sub-title "Roads",
as said section was amended by Chapter 26 of the Acts of 1951, be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
261. The County Commissioners of Howard County on or before
the first day of May, in the year nineteen hundred and fourteen and
every second year thereafter, shall appoint some competent person
as County Road Superintendent, for the term of two years, who shall
have had at least two years' practical experience in constructing,
building, maintaining and repairing roads in Howard County, and
who shall have the authority and right, by and with the consent of the
County Commissioners, to employ such civil engineer as in his judg-
ment he may deem prudent and wise; the compensation of such
engineer to be agreed upon by the Road Superintendent and the
engineer prior to said Engineer's employment. Said County Road
Superintendent shall reside in Howard County during his employ-
