whose minimum salaries or compensation shall be fixed in this Arti-
cle. Beginning in the month of September, 1955 for the school year
of 1955-1956, all such salaries and compensation shall be increased
in the amount of $300.00 for the year. Beginning in September,
1956, for the school year 1956-1957, all such salaries and compensa-
tion shall be increased by an additional $100.00 or a total of $400.00
for the school year. Beginning in September, 1957, for the school
year 1957-1958 and continuing thereafter from year to year, all such
salaries and compensation shall be increased by an additional $100.00
or a total of $500.00 for each such school year. Except as otherwise
specified in this sub-section, all the provisions of this Article con-
cerning the amount of salary or compensation payable to such per-
sons shall continue to be in effect in Allegany County.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public health and safety, and having been passed by
a yea and nay vote, supported by three fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 381
(House Bill 603)

AN ACT to add a new section to the Code of Public Local Laws of
Prince George's County (1953 Edition), being Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Prince George's County", sub-title "County Commissioners", said
new section to be known as Section 467 and to follow immediately
after Section 466 thereof, relating to the authority of the County
Commissioners of Prince George's County to levy a tax to provide
pensions and disability benefits to the members of certain volunteer
fire companies and rescue squads

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to the Code of Public
Local Laws of Prince George's County (1953 Edition), title "Prince
George's County", sub-title "County Commissioners", said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 467 and to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 466 thereof, and all to read as follows:

467. (a) The County Commissioners of Prince George's County
are hereby authorized and directed to levy a tax to provide for the
payment of disability benefits to any member and death pensions to a
widow and/or minor legitimate children of any member of the volun-
