to Baltimore Trotting Races, Inc., in lieu of the one licensed day of
racing which could not be conducted during the 1954 season by reason
of inclement weather conditions. This one additional day of racing
shall be in addition to all such other days of racing which would
otherwise be permitted within the State of Maryland during the year
1955 notwithstanding any provision of law restricting the number
of days upon which racing may be conducted in Maryland or at the
track operated by Baltimore Trotting Races, Inc.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public health and safety and having been passed by a
yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all the members elected
to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 36
(House Bill 56)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 24 (k) of
Article 17 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Clerks of Courts, " sub-title "General Duties of Clerks, " and
to add Section 24(k-2) to said Article, to follow immediately after
Section 24(k-l) thereof, relating to the salary of the Clerk of the
Circuit Court of Prince George's County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 24 (k) of Article 17 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition), title "Clerks of Courts, " sub-title "General
Duties of Clerks, " be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, and that Section 24(k-2) be and it is hereby added to
said Article, to follow immediately after Section 24(k-l) thereof,
and all to read as follows:

24 (k). The Clerk[s] of the Circuit Court[s] of Baltimore
[and Prince George's Counties] County shall be entitled to receive an
annual salary of $7, 500.

24.

(k-2). The clerk of the circuit court of Prince George's County shall
be entitled to receive an annual salary of nine thousand dollars
($9, 000. 00).

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That the increase in salary
herein provided for the clerk of the circuit court of Prince George's
County shall not apply to the clerk of the court who is in office at the
