Wicomico County at an approximate cost of Five Hundred and Fifty
Thousand Dollars ($550,000.00) for such construction, architect
fees and equipment, which is the same general purpose to which the
proceeds of the bonds issued under Chapter 254 of the Acts of 1953
were required to be devoted; and
WHEREAS, said Boards desire to use for and toward such purposes
said balance of funds remaining in the hands of the Treasurer of
Wicomico County aforesaid, but some doubt has been expressed as
to their right to do so under the terms of said Act; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the said contemplated improvements
will be made during the fiscal years 1955-56 and 1956-57, and that
during said years there will be available from the School Incentive
Fund for such purposes the sum of Seventy-five Thousand Dollars
($75,000.00) per year, thereby reducing to Three Hundred Thousand
Dollars ($300,000.00) the amount required in additional funds to
accomplish the aforesaid purposes, provided authority is obtained
to use said sum of approximately One Hundred Thousand Dollars
($100,000.00) for such new projects, and provided further that
said available Incentive Fund monies are devoted to said projects;
Now, therefore:
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the County Commissioners of Wicomico County and the Board
of Education of Wicomico County are hereby authorized to use for
the purposes and projects outlined in this Act any and all funds
remaining in the hands of the Treasurer of Wicomico County, and
subject to the joint order of said two Boards, from the proceeds of
the bonds issued and sold under the provisions of Chapter 254 of
the Acts of 1953 of the General Assembly of Maryland, and to the
extent that such use may conflict with or be contrary to the pro-
visions of said Chapter 254 of the Acts of 1953, said Act is hereby
repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That for the purpose of (1)
constructing an addition consisting of six classrooms and a cafeteria
and such auxiliary rooms as are necessary to the Wicomico Junior
High School located at Salisbury, Maryland, at a cost not to exceed
Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000.00), including
costs of construction, architect fees, equipment, and alterations to
or remodeling of the present building so as to tie in said new con-
struction with said building, (2) constructing an eight classroom
additional building, with toilet facilities for twelve rooms and such
auxiliary rooms as are necessary at the Wicomico Senior High
School located at Salisbury, Maryland, at a cost not to exceed Two
Hundred and Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($225,000.00), including
costs of construction, architect fees and equipment for said addition,
(3) constructing a two room addition consisting of one classroom
and one all-purpose room the size of a classroom, to Willards Ele-
mentary School located at Willards, Maryland, at a cost not to
exceed Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00), including costs of
construction, architect fees and equipment for said addition, and
alterations to or remodeling of the present building so as to tie in
said new construction with said building, and (4) providing a con-
tingency fund of Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00), to be
used by the County Commissioners of Wicomico County and the
