tive citizens of the County and place the remaining copies of the
report in their office to be distributed in such manner as they may
adopt and shall levy sufficient taxes to pay for the cost of same.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 48A of
Article 20 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Somerset County", sub-title "County Commission-
ers", as amended by Chapter 122 of the Acts of 1951, adding a new
Fire Company and appropriating the sum of Twenty-five Hundred
Dollars ($2, 500. 00) annually for it.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 48A of Article 20 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Somerset County", sub-title "County
Commissioners", as amended by Chapter 122 of the Acts of 1951, be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
48A. The County Commissioners of Somerset County are hereby
authorized, empowered and required to appropriate and levy annually
the sum of [eighty-five hundred dollars ($8, 500. 00)] Eleven Thou-
sand Dollars ($11, 000. 00) for the use of the Organized Volunteer
Fire Companies of said Somerset County. The said sum shall be
divided into [three] four parts and paid annually to the Treasurers
of the following Companies in the manner following; that is to say,
to the Treasurer of the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Company three
thousand dollars ($3, 000. 00), to the Treasurer of the Princess Anne
Volunteer Fire Company three thousand dollars ($3, 000. 00), to the
Treasurer of the Marion Volunteer Fire Company twenty-five hun-
dred dollars ($2, 500. 00) and to the Treasurer of the Deals Island-
Chance Volunteer Fire Company twenty-five hundred dollars
($2, 500. 00).
The money so appropriated and paid to the aforesaid Fire Com-
panies shall be used by the said Companies only for the purpose of
purchasing and repairing fire apparatus and equipment; provided,
however, that no payments shall be made to any company which has
any regulations or resolutions limiting the territory within which it
will respond to calls.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
