such investment or deposit and the acceptable securities or deposi-
tories, without relieving the Treasurer of liability for the security
of such investment or deposit according to law and such deposits
shall only be made when the bank OR BUILDING ASSOCIATION
has set aside a like amount of bonds in escrow, as prescribed by law,
covering bank deposits OR BUILDING ASSOCIATION DEPOSITS,
OR SUCH DEPOSIT IS SECURED BY GOVERNMENT INSUR-
ANCE. Interest earned on investment in any one fiscal year must be
used the following fiscal year for general County expenses.
482. The Treasurer shall keep his office open in the Court House
at Upper Marlboro, in said County from ten o'clock A. M. until three
o'clock P. M., or longer if he so determines, each day, except on
Sundays, [and] legal holidays [excepted,] and Saturdays if the Court
House is closed, for the purpose of discharging the duties of his office.
484. The Treasurer, in accordance with the budget approved by
the County Commissioners, shall be entitled to appoint a Deputy
Treasurer and such clerk or clerks as he may deem necessary, and
for whose official conduct he shall be responsible; said Deputy
Treasurer, clerk or clerks to be paid by the County Commissioners.
[The Treasurer shall be entitled to appoint a secretary to assist
him in the discharge of his official duties, and said secretary shall
receive in full compensation for the discharge of his or her official
duties the sum of not less than Three Thousand Eight Hundred
Dollars ($3,800.00) per year which shall be payable semi-monthly.
Said secretary shall be responsible only to the Treasurer and shall
not be governed by or included in any County personnel laws or
County Merit System now existing or hereafter enacted.]
492. Taxes as collected shall be credited to the respective appro-
priations of the levy; and the Treasurer shall make written report
to the County Commissioners of all moneys [,] received and dis-
bursed by him, on the first days of May, July and October in [1933]
1955 and on the first days of January, April, July and October in
each and every year thereafter, such reports to consolidate the re-
ports required to be made semi-monthly or oftener as otherwise pro-
vided in this sub-title.
493. The Treasurer of Prince George's County shall receive in full
compensation for the discharge of his official duties as collector of
taxes levied for State and County purposes the sum of Seven Thou-
sand Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00) for each year of his term
of office, which shall be payable semi-monthly provided that there
shall be no change in his salary received by the Treasurer of Prince
George's County until April 1, 1955, when such salary shall become
payable. The Treasurer of Prince George's County shall be reim-
bursed for expenses incurred in the transaction of his official duties,
provided that the amount of such reimbursement shall be supported
by vouchers approved by the County Commissioners and shall not
exceed the amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
($2,500.00) in any one year [.] , and the Treasurer shall receive
no other compensation or fee for the collection of any taxes, charges
or fees or the performance of his duties. The Treasurer shall make
