jurisdiction over such offense with the circuit courts for their respec-
tive counties; and when said fine and costs are not paid, the parties
so convicted shall be conimitted to the county jail for a term not
exceeding thirty days or until discharged in due course of law; pro-
vided, however, that the provisions of this section shall only apply
to Charles County, Frederick County, Harford County, Howard
County, Montgomery County, [and] Prince George's County [.]
and St. Mary's County.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

CHAPTER 99
(Senate Bill 222)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments. Section 6 (c) of
Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1954 Supplement),
title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Civil Jurisdiction", increas-
ing the civil jurisdiction of Trial Magistrates in Calvert County
to cases which involve amounts not exceeding $300.00.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 6 (c) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1954 Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Civil
Jurisdiction", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

6.

(c) Three hundred dollars in certain counties.—In all cases of
the types mentioned in sub-section (a) of this section which involve
amounts not exceeding $300.00, trial magistrates of Allegany, Anne
Arundel, Calvert, Carroll, Cecil, Frederick and Harford counties
shall have civil jurisdiction except that in Cecil County cases involv-
ing in excess of $100.00 may be tried only before the trial magistrate
who sits in Elkton.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
