another instance, in my opinion of unnecessarily cluttering this
Article of the Code, Since House Bill 871 will merely serve to add
additional confusion without any real change of the basic uniform
state-wide law, I have withheld my approval.

House Bill No. 876—Sheriffs' Fees, Baltimore County
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 25 of
Article 36 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Fees of Officers", sub-title "Sheriffs", relating to the fee to
be collected by the Sheriff of Baltimore County for a writ of fieri
facias.
April 28, 1955
Honorable John C. Luber
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland
Dear Mr. Speaker:
I have today vetoed House Bill 876 which attempts to change the.
Sheriff's fee in Baltimore County for service of a writ of fieri facias.
The present law sets a fee of $1.15, and it was the intent of this bill
to raise the fee to $5.00. Unfortunately, the bill is so drafted that it
retains the present fee of $1.15 and adds, by repetition an additional
charge of $5.00. It is impossible, therefore, to determine from the
bill exactly what is the proper fee to be charged. The sponsors of this
bill have been advised of the confusion which would be engendered by
its signing and agree with my decision to veto it.
Respectfully,
(s) THEODORE R. MCKELDIN,
Governor
