House Joint Resolution requesting the Governor to appoint a com-
mission to study the feasibility of establishing a League of Mary-
land Arts and Crafts.
WHEREAS, There are many persons in the State of Maryland who
are gifted or who have acquired skill in numerous arts and crafts; and
WHEREAS, Many of the individuals engaging in the development
of arts and crafts are retired and are confronted with personal
financial difficulties; and
WHEREAS, The development of a statewide arts and crafts program
would materially help the handicapped persons of our State to be-
come self-sustaining and would prevent many persons from depend-
ing upon public support and maintenance; and
WHEREAS, There are many persons in our rural communities who
could be trained for productive work in the field of arts and crafts
during the winter months; and
WHEREAS, There are many arts and crafts peculiar to the State
of Maryland, the development of which would materially add to the
many attractions of our State and favorably publicize the advantages
offered to residents of Maryland; now, therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Governor
of Maryland appoint a commission to study fully the feasibility of
establishing a League of Maryland Arts and Crafts, and, if found
feasible and advantageous to the State and to the benefit of the resi-
