294. (a) Application of Sub-title; Non-Liability and Saving Clause.
This sub-title shall not apply to a dog owned by a non-resident while
passing through the County, nor to dogs brought into the County
for a period not exceeding fifteen consecutive days, if brought in for
the purpose of breeding, dog show or field trials, provided such dogs
are duly licensed in their home city, county or State, and are wearing
their license tags or are confined in the immediate charge of the
owner or his agent.

(b)  "Seeing Eye" dogs trained to assist the Blind and dogs trained
and registered in the K-9 Corps shall be provided with licenses with-
out charge.

(c)   This sub-title shall not apply to dogs actually confined to the
premises of incorporated societies devoted to the care or hospital
treatment of lost, strayed or homeless animals, or confined to the
premises of public or private hospitals devoted to the treatment of
sick animals or to a dog being owned by a non-resident of the County
and confined temporarily at a licensed boarding kennel. Excepting
in cases where their acts are in contravention of other sections of
this sub-title, enforcement officers exercising due diligence shall not
be held responsible for failure to extend the immunity from local
licensing accorded to dogs covered by this section.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

CHAPTER 710
(House Bill 875)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section (k)
(12) of Section 40 of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition and 1954 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law
and Attorneys in fact", sub-title "State's Attorney", relating to
the compensation of the stenographer to the State's Attorney of
Prince George's County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-section (k) (12) of Section 40 of Article 10 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1954 Supplement), title
"Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in fact", sub-title "State's At-
torney", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

(12). In Prince George's County, the State's Attorney shall
receive $1,500.00 per annum for expenses, and the Deputy State's
