The Chief Deputy Custodian and one Deputy Custodian shall belong
to the other leading party from that to which the Custodian shall
belong. Such Custodian and Deputy Custodians under the direction
of said Board, shall have charge of and represent the said Board
during the preparation of the said voting machines, and perform such
other duties as may be prescribed from time to time by the Board of
Supervisors of Elections. Such Custodian and Deputy Custodians
shall each be paid the sum of $10.00 per diem for each day they are
engaged in the preparation, repair or maintenance of said voting
machines and they shall each be paid the actual expenses incident to
the operation of their automobiles in the performance of their duties,
as may be approved by the County Council. Each Custodian shall
take the Constitutional Oath of Office, which shall be filed with the
said Board. All such salaries in Montgomery County shall be estab-
lished in the annual appropriation resolution and levy in Montgomery
County, except that they may not be less than as specified hereinabove
in this section.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

(House Bill 792)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3 (a) of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1954 Supplement),
title "Elections", sub-title "Election Officials", and to add Section
3 (d) AND (E) to said Article and sub-title (1951 Edition and
1954 Supplement), said new section to follow immediately after
Section 3 (c) thereof, increasing the compensation of the Board
of Supervisors of Elections and of the Clerk to the Board of Super-
visors of Elections in Worcester County AND SOMERSET
COUNTIES.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3 (a) of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1954 Supplement), title "Elections", sub-title "Election Offi-
cials", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
and that new Section 3 (d) AND (E) be and it is hereby added to
said Article and sub-title (1951 Edition and 1954 Supplement), to
follow immediately after Section 3 (c) thereof, and all to read as
follows:

(a) Salaries.—Each supervisor of elections appointed under § 1
(a) or § 1 (c) of this article shall receive an annual salary as follows:
