control which the State Board of Health of Maryland and the De-
partment of Geology, Mines and Water Resources are empowered to
exercise within any sanitary districts.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate pres-
ervation of the public health and safety and having been passed by
a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 670
(House Bill 546)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 302 of
Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Testamentary Law,"' sub-title "Register of Wills," relating
to the salary of a deputy register DEPUTY REGISTERS of wills
in Prince George's County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 302 of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Testamentary Law," sub-title "Register of
Wills," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
and to read as follows:

302. The comptroller shall, from time to time, limit and fix the
number and compensation of assistant clerks or deputies to be em-
ployed by any such register, and no account for compensation for
services of any assistant clerk, deputy or other person employed in
performing any of the duties pertaining to the office of any such
register shall be allowed until such assistant, deputy or other per-
son employed shall have certified under oath that the said services
have been performed; that he has received the full sum therein
charged to his own use and benefit, and that he has not paid, de-
posited or assigned, nor contracted to pay, deposit or assign, any
part of such compensation to the use of any person, nor in any way,
directly or indirectly, paid or given, nor contracted to pay or give, any
reward or compensation for his office or employment, or the emolu-
ments thereof, and such registers of wills are hereby authorized to
appoint such assistant clerks and deputies, and when duly qualified
as such said assistant clerks and deputies, shall have the power and
authority to act in the place and stead of the register of wills; and
all such acts heretofore performed by any such assistant clerk or
deputy are hereby expressly ratified and confirmed as if they had
been performed by the register of wills in person. Provided that in
